nwga.jpg 500×666 69Kなんだか南の方ではだんだん桜が咲いてきているようです、今年は本当にひと月早い季節のながれですね、そんな中僕らは雪崩の救助訓練などをやっていました。どのくらいの早さで掘り出せるかなど実践的な訓練で、ますます山の怖さというか、いざ何かあったときの大変さというのが身にしみて感じました。皆さん山は最高に楽しいですけれど、やっぱりそれに伴ったリスクもあります。滑る技術向上も大切ですが安全管理もいろいろと学びましょう！

明日も降雪の可能性、久々に柔らかいヤツ滑れるかも！！。
勿論パウダーなら文句無しですが、少々浅くても表面がきれいになり、日照で緩んだ時には
“良く走るコーンスノー”間違いなしですね。

アラスカに来ています。

１０年以上前から来ていますが、こんなに降ったことがないぐらい降ってます。

moiwa316.jpg 500×666 70K３日間なんだかぐずついた天気が続きましたが、やっと今日晴れ間がみえた一日になりました。雪も最高のコーンスノーで、昨日までの雨のおかげで山は面つるノートラックとなっていました。なんだか今シーズンはあっという間に春になってしまいましたが、春も最高ですよね！とにかく寒くないし、人もいないし雪はいいし、やっと本当のローカルタイムのはじまりですかね！！とまぁ、いいことばかりではありません、今は冬にはまずあり得ない全層雪崩に注意しましょう！とにかく雪崩の通り道になる沢のボトムラインは気をつけてください、もし転んでしまっても慌てずボトムから速やかに脱出してください、全層のデブリのすごさと行ったら半端じゃないですよ！！

For the past 3 days the weather has been poor but finally today there was a a lull in the rain. Until yesterday, the rain created created no track, corn snow conditions! It felt like suddenly like Spring and i realized how fun Spring is! Warm weather, few people, good snow and finally it has become a time for locals!! All things said though, it is not all good, safe conditions here. Today there was an avalanche on Moiwa that slid all the way to the ground. Please be careful when you are riding out of an area and make sure your bottom line is clear from an avalanche path. Even if you fall, please make sure to get up and get out of the way!

気温の上昇で山はすっかり靄に包まれています。
明日の夜以降、もしくは/20以降の低気圧通過に期待です。
シャクシャクのコーンスノーも楽しいですが、
まだパウダーが滑り足りてないので、まだ寒い地域にでも行ってみるかな〜。

A low pressure causing a rise in the temperature has caused a fog, haze to cover the mountain. This low pressure is expected to pass after tomorrow night.
The corn snow is lots of fun, however i still feel like riding some powder.
Maybe i will start thinking about going somewhere cold where i can find some!

ダイレクトな地形を楽しむ季節です。

It has started feel like Spring in Niseko! It is time to start riding all the different features on the slopes!! It isn't always Powder riding here, right now is the time to get good at riding so you can enjoy the powder more when it comes!

モイワも滑っている人はほぼいなく、人が来るとリフトが動く、なかなかない状況です。たぶんこれなら上は雪かも。明日が楽しみです。 O-M

It started raining this morning, right now it is slightly turning to snow.
The lifts at Moiwa are not running because there is no one riding, but if you go there they will start running the lifts for you! If it keeps snowing there should be some good snow on top of the mountain. I am looking forward to tomorrow!

今日は風も弱く、気温も４月並に上がりすっかり春スキー！？、な感じの一日でした。
しまった雪が緩む朝２くらいからの、ノートラック斜面はナイスコンディションでした！。
明日以降若干の降雪の可能性、このまま終わるはずはないっしょ！

Amazing corn snow!
Today there was a weak wind and the temperatures were similar to April bringing spring ski conditions! This was the first day this season that it really started to feel like spring. After 2:00pm, the snow began to melt and the snow conditions improved, riding in the no tracked areas were best during this time. These conditions are not expected to last and tomorrow, there is a possibility of snow. It does not seem like winter is going to end just yet!!

Today i hiked to a hut on top of Mt.Yotei. I am staying in the hut tonight and I plan to ride down carefully tomorrow morning. The view is incredible....

今日はチセスキー場スタートの白樺からの新見温泉落とし！
ニセコ連山の懐深くに入り込み、マイナスイオンばりばりの、
落ち着いた気候の中で、かなり行動距離の長いツアーでした。
前日に思いのほか降雪があり、雪も良く無数の斜面が僕たちを待ってくれていました！！。
・・・また行きたいっす・・・。

~STILL POWDER!~
Today we rode from Chisenupli ski grounds and hiked up to shirakaba mountain and rode down to Niimi onsen. There was an incredible energy that was felt throughout the Niseko mountains. With the calm weather; the tour was long and enjoyable. The night before had surprised everyone by bringing new snow, so the conditions were great and there were numerous slopes that awaited to be ridden!
I can't wait for the day that i get to go again...

昨日夕方に若干積もった雪は、１CM程度です。

DEEPなPOWDERは、標高が高いか林の中の北斜面にのみ残っている状況です。
しかし黄砂の影響もなく、雪は走ってとてもいい状況でもあります。
POWDERだけがスノーボードじゃぁありませんぜ！

Like the past few days, today was another beautiful sunny day. There was a little bit snowfall last night which added an extra 1 cm to the snowpack. The only DEEP POWDER that is left is in the high elevation and in between trees. However, the snow conditions are still good and soft! There is still a lot of fun places to ride even without powder!!

katou.jpg 450×600 83Kなんだか雰囲気は春モードになっていますが、まだまだ良い雪ありますよ！！まぁ厳冬期の最高のパウダーとは言えませんが、柔らかく、スプレーもいい感じにあがる良い雪でした。ニセコの冬はまだまだ終わらないですよ〜、今久々雪が降り始めました。どんどん積もれー！！

It seems as though Spring has come but the snow conditions are still great! The snow did not feel like winter snow but the spray was big and the snow conditions were soft!! Winter is still here in Niseko and after a long absence it has started to snow. Hopefully it snows lots and lots!!

NEC_0102.jpg 288×352 7K今日のニセコは予報とは違い、朝から晴れていて景色が最高でした。ゲレンデは朝から南面はゆるんでいてカービングするには良い感じです。パウダーも晴れが続いていたので、ないかと思えば、ラインを使い、いつもは行けない日陰の森の中は良い雪がありました。地形も気候も良くこの時期の良さを思い出しました。 O-M

Today there was no new snow as the forecast had called; it was a beautiful sunny day right from the morning and into the afternoon. The pistes began to soften in the morning making it perfect carving conditions!
The usual spots where i would go find powder was all hard because of the sunny weather but i found some powder in between trees and shady areas where i usually do not find powder.

山の上半分は乾雪、下半分はザラメ、、？

今夜半以降、降雪の予報、ゆっくりじっくり滑れる良い季節です。

A beautiful, windless day! Yesterday's snowfall kept the snow in good condition. I cannot say the conditions on the lower half of the mountain are as good. After midnight, the forecast is calling for snow; please be aware of the hard layer below and ride carefully.

昨日までの暖かさが嘘みたいに寒い一日となり、なんだか春の気配がしてきたのかな？まさに今時期のことを三寒四温というそうですよ、でもまだまだ冬は終わっちゃいないということですよね！まだまだパウダーを楽しみましょう！

After a long absence, today was an amazing powder day! The weather was warm until yesterday and today, it felt as though winter had returned. The forecast cycle is calling for 3 cooler days and 4 warm days and we are now in the end of the cooler days. It is still winter, so lets enjoy the weather and the powder!

Today there was wet, Spring like snow falling in the morning. As the day progressed the snow became lighter. There were less people on the pistes than the past few weeks. Niseko will continue to be great as we enter the Spring season.
