BC Hike Tour

Our backcountry experience remains lifetime long.
We guide you the backcountry lines that we’ve cultivated for long time as Niseko locals.

BC Hike

Hiking up from the bottom of mountain
Enjoy skiing down the natural terrains
The pleasure comes form hiking by your own power and skiing down the mountain.

Area: Mt. Iwao, Mt. Chise, Mt. Nito, etc
Start time: AM 8:15
Meet up: POWDER COMPANY GUIDES (located in Niseko Annupuri Ski Resort)
Duration: 4 hour, AM8:30 to PM13:30 (Pending on condition)
Gear: Beacon, Shovel, Probe, Proper Backpack and Stock
Guides: Tomoki Takaku, Makoto Yamada, Hidehiko Kishi, etc
Option: Photo Session, DVD Shooting

Price

One Guest: 24000 Yen
From two guests: 16000 Yen/per person
Private one-on-one tour: +10000 Yen
Private group tour: 15000 Yen/One group
*Please notice these things below
1) Weekends and public holidays +¥1,000/per person
2) 8% consumption tax is not included.
3) Tour guiding with

4) 5 people per guide ratio.
5) Lift pass is not included.
6) Tour cancellation and the final decision of location will be decided on the day pending weather and snow conditions.

Time table for BC Hike Tour

7:45-8:10 We will pick you up at where you stay at if you don’t have transportation.
8:00~8:20 Meet up at Powder Company Guides.
8:30 Briefing about the tour. Leaving Powder Company Guides to a mountain around Niseko.
Around 9:00 Start Hiking up.
Around 10:00 Skiing down about 150 meter to 300 meters
Around 11:15 Hiking up again to ski down another slope.
Around 13:00 Back to the bottom of a mountain and going back to Powder Company Guides.
Around 13:30 Photo Session Slide Show at Powder Company Guides (If inquired the Photo Session)
14:30-16:00 Finish the tour. We take you back to your hotel if needed.

3) Depending on conditions and the group how many runs we do in a tour.

Tomoki Takaku

Born: 1972. September. 7th Hometown: Kanagawa prefecture Japan Reside: Niseko, Hokkaido

Since the early 90's Tomoki has been traveling all over the world as an "extreme freeride snowboarder”. Tomoki’s ridden many international big mountain including Mongolia (Highest peak at 4378m), Siberia and Alaska. Tomoki has had many tours along the steep Alaskan faces while attending Glacier camps. You can find footage of Tomoki in Alaska on several of his videos.

Tomoki office is located at the bottom of the Annupuri ski resort in Niseko, Japan. During the winter this is where Tomoki owns, operates and is one of the senior guides in the backcountry for "The Powder Company Guides" established in 1999. This is where Tomoki shares his international skills and experiences while teaching the basics of riding powder and the dangers of the backcountry. Tomoki is a sponsored team rider for THE NORTH FACE and works together with THE NORTH FACE on new product development. Tomoki released his signature model snowboard with GENTEMSTICK. GENTEMSTICK Tomoki Takaku pro model boards "GT" and "Big Floater".

Tomoki runs the “Test-center and Powder Company Guides” in Annupuri International Ski Area. In the summer, Tomoki started “SUP Niseko” – Guiding by Stand-up Paddle boarding in the rivers and ocean around Niseko. Some of Tomoki’s responsibilities include maintaining the ski slopes during the off-season and environmental conservation of the forests.

Makoto Yamada

Born: 1973
Hometown: Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan
Reside: Niseko, Hokkaido

Profile:

After graduating high school, Makoto and Tomoki Takaku spent a winter season in Canada. That was the turning point for him. After that, Mokoto went to Canada, France, Austria, Switzerland and USA backcountry snowboarding. Makoto spent the full-season in Alaska in 1997, 2000, 2002 and 2004. Notably, living in a tent in 2000. Makoto joined the “Powder Company Guides” in 2005 and has been guiding in the Niseko backcountry ever since. Makoto specializes in taking customers to the best area and conditions of the day.

Profile:

Hidehiko has lived in Niseko since 1993 and been a backcountry guide since 1999. Hidehiko officially joined Powder Company Guides in 2009. His guiding keeps the guests feeling safe and works on improving his client's skills. Hidehiko is highly trusted by guests and guide crew. Hidehiko is a rafting guide in the summer and wants to share the joy of Niseko all year around.
